Hi all, I am iLive2eat and I am a foodie. This blog is all about my love for all things food, covering Kamloops stories as well as serving as a conversational site where people come to talk about anything and everything about food!!

I hope to keep my words to a minimum and let the photos do most of the blogging. And if I do review a restaurant, these reviews are reflect my own opinion and is based on what I like and dislike. No disrespect is intended.

Jay’s Good Eats

Kamloops, BC

Jay’s Good Eats has been on my wish list ever since they opened for business in Downtown Kamloops and finally, the entire family decided to pay them a visit for lunch. With expectations high and bellies empty, we chose our favorites from the menu and sat down to enjoy what we thought would be a fantastic meal. When the food arrived at our table, we marveled at the presentation and quantity. I ordered the Big Bob Burger and fries, iLove2Shop ordered the Italian Burger and the kids got a Mac and Cheese and a Simple Hot Dog.

I thought the Big Bob Burger was prepared well and was very tasty. After a few bites from the Italian Burger, iLove2Shop noticed that the meat was pink and promptly took it back to show the cook (and owner). He offered to replace the burger but iLove2Shop thought it would be a waste to make a whole new burger so he re-grilled it and served it on a new half-bun. We had no issues with the Hot Dog and the Mac and Cheese but our main issue was with the fries. Although it was fried to perfection, the fries were immensely salty and not edible. We gave it our best to get through the salt and enjoy the fries but it was too over powering to continue eating them. I complained about the big chunks of salt on the fries to the owner and I guess he was offended by my complaint as he could only muster a reply by saying okay and turned away from me. No offer was made to refund our money nor was an apology offered. Although, I never asked for a refund, in this case, I wish I would have asked for one as it would have been the right thing to do.

This restaurant has so much potential as it attempts to serve up some unique and home style burger creations. It is the kind of restaurant that I would love to see succeed in Kamloops. However, during our visit, Jays Good Eats failed in executing their vision of Good Eats. I would hope that Jays Good Eats would learn from this event and understand that he has to pay attention to his food (make sure the food is cooked and taste test to ensure it is cooked well) and learn how to respond to customer feedback in an appropriate manner. To all my readers, I highly suggest if you had the intentions to try this place, you still follow through. I’m hoping that your experience will be as fantastic as I thought ours would be dining at Jays Good Eats.
