Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Kamloops, BC
I have been wanting a Swiss Chalet in Kamloops ever since I relocated here from Eastern Canada where Swiss Chalets were very common and popular. And now that it is finally here, I didn’t lose any time paying them a visit. They opened on a Monday and I was there on the Saturday! Will all this anticipation lead to a happy reunion or will it result in an underwhelming experience?
First of all, I have to say that I was very impressed with the makeover of this location where Tony Roma’s used to call home. The fireplace at the entrance welcomed guests to a cozy and brightly lit restaurant. The service was hesitant but friendly as staff slowly familiarized themselves with the restaurant and its menu. Our food was served in under 10 minutes and we were visited by two different managers checking to see if everything was in order.
Since I like dark meat and because I was hungry, I opted for the double leg dinner and fries. iLove2Shop ordered the Hickory Rotisserie Chicken Flatbread and the kids ordered the Cheeseburger and Chicken Strips Kids meals. As soon as the food touched down on to the table, I remembered why I loved Swiss Chalet so much. It wasn’t for their Rotisserie Chicken but rather, it was for their yummy Swiss Chalet dipping sauce. We received four bowls of dipping sauces and thankfully, the kids didn’t want theirs so I got three bowls to myself. The dipping sauce did not disappoint and it was everything I remembered it to be and my long awaited trip back to Swiss Chalet was well worth the wait.
Their Rotisserie Chicken was good although it was on the small side. I personally like the juicy plump looking Rotisserie Chicken you can buy from Costco. As for the fries, I think McDonald’s french fries are far better than what I had at Swiss Chalet. But nobody quite has a dipping sauce like Swiss Chalet. This alone will have me going back to Swiss Chalet for more (dipping sauce). I have tried to make their dipping sauce using store bought Swiss Chalet packets but they must add something else to it at their restaurants as it does not quite taste the same.
You can earn a free Starter if you visit their website and sign up for their Rotisserie Mailing List. Also, when you receive your bill, you will get a chance to do a survey and earn a starter as well. Kids eat free on their birthday. The menu is very basic and the prices are very reasonable. Swiss Chalet, welcome to Kamloops. I know you will do well in Kamloops as I know I’m not the only one that is addicted to your dipping sauce. Does anyone know if we can get their dipping sauce to go?
