Eden Bento Cafe

Kamloops, BC

This cafe is so tiny that one photograph essentially captures the entire dining room in one frame.   With room for about 20-25 people, this restaurant may be small but it makes it up by serving up some tasty Bento boxes and Donburi rice bowl dishes.  The menu is quintessentially Japanese but being that the owners are Korean, there is a lot of Korean influence felt in their food.  No complaints here as everyone that follows my food adventures know that I am a lover of Korean food.

The Yakitori Chicken skewers were succulent and grilled perfectly.  You get a choice of rice or vegetables with it.  The remainder of the Bento box consisted of vegetable and prawn tempuras, california rolls and sunomono salad.  The Donburi bowls were well prepared and really hit the spot.  We were offered a bowl of Miso Soup for each of us and was also presented with a small bowl of very zesty and yummy Kimchi to compliment our food. The Kimchi sealed the deal for me!

I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that I would like to see Eden Bento Cafe serve more Korean Dishes on their menu.  In fact, I would like to suggest some dishes for their consideration.   Pajeon (Korean Scallion Pancakes), Gamjatang (a spicy pork bone stew), Steamed Man-Doo (Korean Dumplings) top my wish list.

Eden Bento Cafe is a family run restaurant and it showed in their warm service, hospitality and spirit.   If you are looking for a quick, healthy bite to eat and you are in the mood for some Japanese and Korean food, then be sure to check out Eden Bento Cafe.
