JamCan Cafe

Kamloops, BC

Yah Mon!  Did you know, we have Jamaican food in Kamloops?  JamCan Cafe, located on 12th Street in North Kamloops, is open for breakfast and lunch.

I was thrilled to find Curry Goat and Roti on their menu as I have been craving it for a while.  Where else in Kamloops, can you go to find that combination?  Sadly, none as far as I am aware so JamCan Cafe was scoring high marks even before I even tasted their food.  The Curry Goat was aromatic and spiced perfectly giving it a rich and complex flavour.   The Curry Goat wrapped in a roti for $7.95 is a steal of a deal.  It is a definite re-order dish for me.

iLove2Shop ordered the Jamaican Clubhouse with the fries but she found the jerk seasoning too spicy for her liking.  But I did not think it was spicy so I had the pleasure of eating most of it.  We also ordered the Johnnycakes (our server described it as Jamaican Bannock) and a Jamaican Patty.  They were out of Beef Patties so instead, we received the Chicken version.  I loved this curry flavored pastry with a flaky crust.   I wanted to try the Lentil Cakes but they were out of it.

We can’t wait to go back as there’s so many other things on their menu that we would like to try.  Combined with the efficient service, cheap prices and the island hospitality, JamCan Cafe is a hidden gem in the Kamloops restaurant scene.
